Lithuania plans to repair at least 12 German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Now two such self-propelled guns are already being sent to Ukraine after repairs, two more are being taken to Lithuania for repairs. On October 29, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas announced this on Twitter.
It is expected that at least 12 of them will be repaired in Lithuania, the official wrote.
As you know, the Panzerhaubitze 2000 is a German self-propelled artillery mount with an automatic charging system and a high level of automation of all systems. It is built on the basis of components and assemblies of the Leopard-2 tank.
For firing, standard ones in the armies of NATO countries are used, and howitzers consist of 60 shells and 228 modular propellant charges. The firing range of standard ammunition is 30 km.
Recall that in July the German government approved a permit for the sale of 100 Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. The budget for the production of hundreds of such self-propelled guns is 1.7 billion euros, and this equipment will be able to be manufactured in just a few years.
