Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said that in the long run, the restoration of Ukraine will cost at least $ 600 billion. He announced this on Facebook following a speech at the Spring Meetings 2022, held by the World Bank and IMF.
The head of the Cabinet noted that, together with President Volodymyr Zelensky, he told his partners about Russia’s plans to destroy Ukraine and the Ukrainian economy.
“The damage to the Ukrainian economy is already more than $ 500 billion. GDP this year could fall from 30 to 50%. Ukraine needs financial support from partners to survive. We estimate the size of such short -term assistance to $ 4-5 billion per month over the next six months, ”Shmygal pointed out.
At the same time, in the long run, the restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine will require at least $ 600 billion, he stressed.
“On behalf of the President of Ukraine, the government, together with world experts, is already working on such a recovery plan. I call on the whole world to support Ukraine, support freedom and democracy,” the prime minister summarized.
It was previously reported that the European Union would create a trust fund to finance the reconstruction of war -torn Ukraine, covering most of the necessary funds.
