The coming winter will be the worst in Ukraine’s modern history due to power outages and heating related to the shelling of energy infrastructure. This was announced on Monday, October 24, by the head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Yuriy Vitrenko, writes Handelsblatt.
He noted that almost 40% of energy facilities on the territory of Ukraine were destroyed, almost no working oil refineries remained.
According to him, the coming months for Ukraine will be “the worst winter in our history.” He expects constant power outages and recurring heating problems.
“Recently, Russia has repeatedly launched attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which led to power outages in large parts of the country. In the gas sector, Naftogaz managed to maintain levels of close in the war. But production is constantly being hit. Many employees died – not only because they fought at the front, but also in their workplaces,” stressed Yuriy Vitrenko.
The authorities expect that in the upcoming heating season, gas consumption will decrease by 39.7% (by 7.7 billion cubic meters) compared to last year, at 11.7 billion cubic meters. m.
The temperature in the houses of Kiev will be close to 18 degrees, because it is late winter.
