The country has already sent 12 fighter jets to eastern NATO members Bulgaria, Lithuania and Estonia after Russia invaded Ukraine in February.
Spain will send 14 fighter jets to Bulgaria and Romania to bolster NATO’s eastern flank as part of a “response and deterrence” strategy. On Saturday, October 22, AFP wrote.
It was noted that six Eurofighters and 130 military personnel will be sent to Bulgaria from mid-November to early December for training. And in Romania, six F18M fighters and 130 military personnel will be removed. They will be there from December 2022 to March 2023.
The statement said Romania will also deploy a long-range airborne surveillance radar from October 17, which will be operational until the end of June 2023.
It should be noted that after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Spanish side sent 12 fighters to Bulgaria, Lithuania and Estonia.
It was previously reported that Spain plans to supply Ukraine with four Hawk air defense systems.
