Water is being released from the Kakhovka reservoir, allegedly to reduce the scale of damage in the event of a dam failure at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the occupiers report.
The Russian invaders drained water from the Kakhovka reservoir in the Kherson region on the third day. The BBC reported it.
The so-called “head” of the occupational administration of Novokakhovka district, Vladimir Leontiev, said that water is being released from the Kakhovka reservoir, allegedly to reduce the extent of damage in the event of a dam failure at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
BBC sources confirmed that the Russians had drained water from the reservoir on the third day.
Leontiev also said that the HPP continues to work, while the three units are out of order.
“Last week, the discharge of water was increased so that in the event of a negative development of events, the amount of water that will flow downstream will be smaller,” he said.
Recall that on September 20, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the enemy began shelling the Pechenegsky reservoir dam. On the same day, the authorities urgently appealed to the residents of the community and warned of the possible threat of severe flooding due to enemy rocket attacks on the dam.
