According to the dpa, Slovenia also requested more modern equipment from Germany, including the Leopard 2 battle tank, the Boxer wheeled tank and the Puma infantry fighting vehicle, which has just been adopted by the Bundeswehr.

Federal Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) also confirmed that Germany will train Ukrainian soldiers to operate the Panzerhaubitze 2000 tank howitzer.

“Because we have the knowledge of how to train it. It’s a way to provide such support,” he said.

It was previously learned that the Panzerhaubitze 2000 will be delivered to Ukraine from the Netherlands.

According to open data, Slovenia is armed with 46 T-72 tanks.

Recall that Germany aims to prevent direct supply of weapons to Ukraine, so it was decided to move modern tanks to Eastern European countries. They will replace the equipment that former members of the Warsaw Pact are willing to send to Ukraine.

Earlier it was reported that the German Vice-Chancellor refused to send tanks to Ukraine.

Also, the Bundeswehr explained the impossibility of providing heavy weapons to Ukraine for fear of their own weakness.
