The famous toy brand and its parent company Mattel have released a limited edition Queen Elizabeth doll to celebrate her 96th birthday and her 70th birthday on the English throne. The NYT writes about it.
The doll goes on sale on Thursday, April 21st. It is part of Barbie’s Tributes Collection, dedicated to famous and historical figures.
Royal Barbie is decorated with one of the monarch’s most iconic costumes: a replica of Queen Mary’s tiara she wore to her wedding to the late Prince Philip, as well as medallions inspired by royal family orders. The pink and blue ribbons feature small pictures of his father, King George VI, and grandfather, George V.
The box is decorated with a logo in the form of a coat of arms and a badge dedicated to the anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne.
It will be recalled that on February 5 this year, Queen Elizabeth II began at the residence in Sandringham the celebration of the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne.
