Belarusian manufacturers must coordinate the increase in sales prices with government agencies, and the limits for the maximum allowance are set for importers and trade, following from the decision of the Council of Ministers .
The Council of Ministers of Belarus on Wednesday, October 19, signed a resolution on a new price regulation system. The changes affect the goods of the entire consumer basket – both domestic and imported, the press service of the government of the republic indicated.
As follows from the innovations, manufacturers are now required to coordinate the increase in sales prices with state bodies, regional executive committees and the Executive Committee of the City of Minsk. There are limits on maximum markups for importers and traders regardless of the number of intermediaries involved. Barter transactions also require coordination with government agencies. In addition, when delivering products made in Belarus to the market, it is forbidden to pay bonuses and other rewards for the promotion of goods.
Lukashenka bans raising prices in Belarus
The leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with the government’s economic bloc on October 6, banned the increase in prices in the country, and also threatened the officials responsible for the event with the closure of retail outlets. A few days later, Lukashenka said that the main thing is not a ban on price increases, but the development of a pricing control system, but before it appears, “prices should not rise.” According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, as of October 15, 18 criminal cases were opened in the country regarding the alleged truth of pricing violations.
