The head of the IAEA believes that the Russian Federation may use nuclear weapons in the war against Ukraine as a “last resort.”

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi may visit Ukraine and Russia again in the near future as part of efforts to establish a security zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. This was reported by Reuters.

“There is a possibility that I will return to Ukraine and Russia – this, in fact, is what we agreed on in principle. We are currently continuing consultations aimed at establishing a protection zone. This involves contact, when I receive the answer and reaction from both sides , I’m looking for new ways to move forward, and for this at some point, probably soon, I have to go back,” said Grossi.

The head of the IAEA believes that the Russian Federation may use nuclear weapons in the war against Ukraine as a “last resort.”

“Obviously, nothing can be ruled out, I’m not in the decision-making mechanism in this country, but I believe that this will be a last resort,” said the director general of the organization.

Grossi previously said that the situation at Zaporizhia NPP is unacceptable, and steps must be taken immediately to protect it.
