Jerusalem and Kyiv have been trying for weeks to agree on a dialogue between the countries’ defense ministers, Haaretz wrote.
Israel rejected the telephone talks between Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, scheduled for October 17. This was reported by the newspaper Haaretz, citing sources Ukrainian.
The publication’s interlocutor stressed that the talks scheduled for Monday were initiated by Jerusalem, which canceled them a few hours before the scheduled time.
Israeli officials have denied this claim.
It was noted that efforts to establish contacts between Jerusalem and Kyiv began a few weeks ago. Members of Gantz’s inner circle said they were important to the defense minister and that he intended to speak with Reznikov in the coming days.
Ukrainian officials have expressed hope that the planned talks will link to the possibility of military cooperation.
The last time Ganz and Reznikov spoke was in April. Haaretz learned that another interview was scheduled for August 24 and has since been postponed five times.
The publication recalled that on October 17, the Russian Federation accused Israel of planning to supply arms to Ukraine and warned that such a move would damage the countries’ relations.
It was previously reported that Israel was providing Ukraine with information about Iranian drones being used by the Russian Federation on the battlefield.
