A European official said that direct military aid to Ukraine is about to exceed three billion euros.
The European Union continues to seek a diplomatic solution to end the war unleashed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. However, the EU will respond strongly to any Russian attempts to escalate the conflict. In particular, the European Union will increase direct military aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the amount of more than three billion euros. This is what EU High Representative Josep Borrell said in Brussels before participating in a meeting of NATO defense ministers at the headquarters of the Alliance on Thursday, October 13.
“I will inform the NATO member countries that we intend to accept, I hope, next Monday (October 17 – ed.) in Luxembourg a new tranche of our military support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This amount will amount to more than three billion euros from the peace resources of the European Fund. I will also inform them about the establishment of a military training mission to support the Ukrainian army,” he said.
Russia continues provocative actions to escalate this war, but the EU remains steadfast in supporting Ukraine as long as necessary and to the extent necessary, a European official said.
“We will continue to provide military support to stop any Russian attack, any action to escalate the war. We want to find diplomatic solutions for this war as soon as possible, but we will match the increase in military aid in Ukraine to prevent any escalation from Russia,” Borrell summarized.
In addition, Borrell has previously said that Russia’s Western allies will certainly respond if it decides to launch a nuclear strike on Ukraine.
