Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky summarized the results of the outgoing week in an evening video message on Saturday, October 1.
“Another week of our war for freedom is coming to an end. A week when the enemy really wanted to torture us, but really tortured it only for himself. For Russia itself. Today, more voices in the world have joined in condemning the pseudo-referendums and Russia’s attempted annexation of our territory. As a result, there have already been dozens of statements clearly supporting Ukraine and international law and condemning Russia for this next aggressive step, ” emphasized Zelensky.
Zelensky noted the statement of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who bluntly stated that Russia violates the goals and principles of the UN, the UN Charter, and that pseudo-referendums and an attempt at annexation have no legal force .
“When such words are heard at the highest level in the UN, everyone in the world understands everything. And there is no veto right in Russia that can stop or cancel the understanding of the world,” said the President of Ukraine.
Separately, Zelensky dwelt on the subject of pseudo-referendums.
“Here, Russia performed a farce in Donbass. A farce that they want to file like a referendum. They showed something there, they sent machine gunners home, with papers, propagandists shot in that part of Donbass that they control . And now there’s a Ukrainian flag. “There are more Ukrainian flags in the Donbas this week. Next week there will be more. How about a pseudo-referendum then? Are there two regions of Donetsk? Two villages of Yampol in Donetsk region? Or two villages of Torskoye? The Ukrainian movement will continue,” he said. assured the President.
