Stoltenberg threatened Russia with consequences for using nuclear weapons

NATO is monitoring the situation. The Alliance does not see any change in the Russian Federation’s nuclear deployment.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Russia would face “serious consequences” if it decided to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. He said this at an emergency briefing against the backdrop of Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territories on September 30.

“We must be careful, we are exchanging information,” Stoltenberg said.

According to him, NATO is watching what Russia is doing.

“We see no change in their nuclear deployment,” the NATO Secretary General said.

Recall, Stoltenberg noted that NATO condemned the annexation of Ukrainian territories and would not advise Ukraine to reduce military activity to prevent escalation.

As you know, today Ukraine announced that it is applying for membership in the Alliance.
