This was said by the official representative of the EC Dana Spinant at a briefing in Brussels on Thursday, September 29, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“It can be done very quickly, as happened with previous sanctions. We think it is necessary to show unity and determination – and quickly approve these sanctions,” he said.
He also said what threatens the aggressor country under the new sanctions package.
“We have proposed these additional sanctions. It is difficult to talk about the mechanism for their implementation until they are approved. We will discuss the implementation and the method of its implementation as soon as it is approved,” the official assured.
Spinant recalled the “very clear procedure” for imposing sanctions.
“We are proposing measures to the Council (EU – ed.), and while this procedure is ongoing, we are not giving details,” he stressed.
They will follow through only after approval of the sanctions, the spokesperson added.
As you know, the European Commission has already approved a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. This includes limiting the price of Russian oil.
According to media reports, the EU will ban the import of a wide range of Russian goods.
