The General Directorate of Coastal Security of Turkey reported that the accident occurred near the Asian coast of Istanbul: the bulk carrier Viva Eclipse had control problems (steering wheel lock). Tugboats and an emergency services boat were dispatched to the ship.

It was noted that the 190-meter dry cargo ship was sailing under the flag of Panama.

It was previously reported that Russian icebreakers were being dismantled for spare parts.
