The European Union directive, relating to ships registered under the Russian flag, began to work.

Ports of all EU countries have closed access for Russian ships. This was announced on April 18 by the head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak.

“The EU directive on the ban for Russians has already begun. It applies to all ships registered under the Russian flag, as well as to those who changed their registration with the Russian Federation after February 24,” the head of OP.

According to him, the exception only applies to ships that send SOS (Mayday) signals. Decisions regarding such courts shall be made in each case.

“We will monitor how such exceptions are applied and whether the Russian Federation uses them for workarounds,” Yermak added.

It was previously reported that the London Marine Market of Insurers had declared all of Russia’s sea water as a “war zone”. Such a decision would significantly complicate the conduct of international trade of the Russian Federation.
