The US has warned Russia that it will “respond strongly” if it decides to use nuclear weapons.
Russia expects “catastrophic consequences” in the event of the use of nuclear weapons on the territory of Ukraine. This is what White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said in an interview with NBC, published on Sunday, September 25.
“If Russia crosses this line, the consequences for it will be catastrophic. The US will give a decisive response. Through private channels, we explained in more detail what exactly this means,” said said Sullivan.
Sullivan promised more statements from the US regarding the pseudo-referendum in the coming days.
The repercussions for the “referendums” will include economic sanctions against companies outside of Russia that support the Russian war machine.
The White House in the context of nuclear weapons states that we are talking about “catastrophic consequences.”
“We will do everything possible to prevent Russia from taking this step. And if they do, we will respond decisively,” Sullivan said.
