The head of the Russian Orthodox Church assured the flock that the invaders would be able to “atone” for their sins by participating in the Russian invasion.
Death in the performance of military duty is a “sacrifice” and it “washes away all sin.” This is what Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church said in his Sunday sermon on September 25, according to the Russian edition Meduza.
The head of the Russian Church commented in this way on the issue of the death of the invaders during the war against the Ukrainians.
“The Church prays that this war (the war in Ukraine – ed.) will end as quickly as possible, so that as few brothers as possible will kill themselves in this fratricidal war,” he assured.
However, according to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Russian Church “realizes that if a person, driven by a sense of duty, the need to fulfill the oath” dies, then he allegedly ” has done a deed equal to a sacrifice.”
“He sacrifices himself for others. And therefore we believe that this sacrifice washes away all the sins that a person has committed,” Patriarch Kirill assured his flock.
As you know, the Cabinet of Ministers has already approved proposals for the application of personal sanctions for 10 years against the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill.
It should be noted that a number of countries, notably Canada, have imposed sanctions against Patriarch Kirill for his support of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
