Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that provides for prison terms of up to 10 years for desertion or failure to report for service. On Saturday, September 24, Russian media reported.
According to the law, unauthorized departure from a unit or place of service or failure to report for service without good reason, committed by a soldier performing military service by conscription or contract, shall be punished by imprisonment of up to 5 to 10 years. .
At the same time, Russians who were in reserve during their military training will have the same criminal liability.
