President Volodymyr Zelensky posthumously awarded the title Hero of Ukraine to senior soldier Serhiy Sovya, whose body with a blue-and-yellow bracelet was found in Izyum. The corresponding order on Saturday, September 24, was published on the website of the head of state.
“For personal courage and heroism shown in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath, I decided to award the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Gold Zirka to Owl Sergey Alexandrovich. – a senior soldier (posthumously),” the document said.
As reported, the body of the deceased Sergei Sova was discovered during excavations in the city of Izyum, Kharkiv region, freed from the Russian invaders, with a yellow-blue bracelet on his arm. The serviceman was identified by his wife’s tattoo.
Sergey Sova has been defending Ukraine as part of the 93rd separate brigade Kholodny Yar since 2014. Since April 19, 2022, he is considered missing.
Earlier, a photo of the hand of a man who died in Izium with a yellow-blue bracelet spread around the world. It was later found that the remains belonged to a Ukrainian soldier.
