The President of Serbia accused Ukraine of “mining” planes

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has certainly denied Oleksandr Vucic’s allegations and called them baseless.

Ukraine is allegedly involved in the massive “mining” of Air Serbia aircraft. This was stated by the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, jutarnji.hr reports on Monday, April 18.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in late February, more than a dozen Air Serbia flights have been forced to return to Belgrade or Moscow due to bomb threats, and Belgrade airport has been evacuated at least three times. .

“The foreign intelligence services of the two countries are doing this. One is an EU country, the other is Ukraine,” Vucic said, without providing any evidence.

He noted that Serbia continues these flights “out of principle, because we want to show that we are an independent country and that we are making our own decisions.”

According to him, last Sunday there was another message that a bomb had been planted on an Air Serbia plane while flying over Slovakia, but the pilot continued flying because “he knew the message was wrong.”

In this regard, Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko denied Vučić’s accusations, RBC-Ukraine reports.

“We categorically deny the baseless accusations of the President of Serbia. His statements about Ukraine’s alleged involvement in the mining aircraft reports of Serbian airlines flying in the Russian Federation do not correspond to reality,” he said. by Nikolenko.

He also stressed that Kyiv was disappointed that Belgrade had not yet joined the sanctions against Russia because of the war against Ukraine.

“We call on Belgrade to side with the truth and fully join Ukraine’s support and uphold the values ​​on which a united democratic Europe is based,” he added.
