The European Union will continue to support Ukraine’s sovereignty, Josep Borrell assured.
EU foreign ministers will gather for an emergency meeting to agree on a common position on Russia mobilization and discuss new sanctions. This is what EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell said on Wednesday, September 21.

“Today, immediately after I heard Putin’s words, I convened an extraordinary informal meeting of EU foreign ministers to agree on a common position. I am sure that it can be summarized as follows: we were not afraid, we will continue to fully support Ukrainian sovereignty and democracy and continue to work to end this war,” Borrell said.
According to him, the issue of new sanctions “will probably be the subject of ministerial discussions.”
“We have warned before that in the event of these “referendums” and in the event of annexation, there will be new sanctions. And we will start proposing what to do with the sanctions,” the official said.
It will be recalled that this week the occupying authorities announced that “referendums” on joining Russia will be held in the occupied territories from September 23 to 27.
The Office of the President believes Russia is rushing to hold a “referendum” because it fears losing the war in Ukraine.
