Russian journalists maintain their casualty figures based on public reports of military deaths.
The data on the Russian military killed in the war in Ukraine from the message of the Minister of Defense of this country, Sergei Shoigu, is lower than the number of killed, known from open sources in Russia. This was reported by the Russian edition of Mediazon on Wednesday, September 21.
So, today Shoigu for the first time since March announced the official data on the losses of the occupying forces – 5937 military personnel were killed. But this number is lower than the number of dead, because at the beginning of September the names of 6219 dead are known, and so far their number exceeds 6.6 thousand.
It is indicated that journalists keep their count based on public reports about a person’s death – posts on social networks from relatives, memorial plaques in schools, messages from local authority, and so on.
“Such an assessment can be called minimal, not all deaths are known to the public,” the report said.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia lost more than 55 thousand soldiers killed during the war against Ukraine. At least 300 Russians have died in the past 24 hours alone.
At the same time, the current President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, announced today the mobilization of another 300,000 Russians. And the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny promised to destroy them all.
