Now Ukrainian electricity producers can export up to 300 MW to Romania and Slovakia per day.
The European network of transmission system operators ENTSO-E has increased the available transmission capacity at night for the export of electricity between Ukraine and Europe. NPC Ukrenergo reported this on Wednesday, September 21.
“On September 20, ENTSO-E increased by 50 MW at night the available capacity for electricity export between Ukraine and Europe. Now Ukrainian electricity producers can export a total of 300 MW in Romania and Slovakia around the clock,” the message said.
It was noted that Ukraine will be able to supply a higher volume of electricity from September 23. At the same time, the Ukrainian energy system will have the technical ability to receive the same assistance from the European energy system, if necessary during of heating.
Ukrenergo added that further increases in throughput in Romania, Slovakia and Hungary will be discussed in October, and at the end of the year it is planned to resume operation of another interconnector in Poland.
Recall that since July, Ukraine started exporting electricity to European countries. At the moment, Ukraine provides 300 MW, but the volume can increase nine times – up to 2,700 MW.
At the same time, during the eight months of 2022, the income from electricity exports increased 1.7 times compared to the same period in 2021, to $278.75 million, and in the two weeks of September it reached $131 million.
