Following Turkey, the banks of Armenia, Vietnam and Kazakhstan refused to serve Russian “plastic”.
After Turkish banks, credit organizations of other countries that previously accepted Mir cards stopped working with the Russian payment system. It was written by the Russian edition of Izvestia.
For example, the call centers of the Vietnamese bank BIDV and Khaliq of Kazakhstan reported that now they do not accept Russian “plastic”, although they were previously listed on the NSPK website as partners.
According to the bank employee, BIDV continues to service VISA, Mastercard, Western Union, JCB, UnionPay cards, but the Mir payment system is not accepted.
The People’s Bank of Kazakhstan (Khalik Bank) also stopped accepting Mir cards. His call center reported that Russian cards are not serviced through terminals or through ATMs.
In addition, on September 20, it became known that Armenian banks also stopped serving the Russian Mir payment system.
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation reported that foreign partners themselves decided to open their infrastructure for accepting Mir cards.
On September 20, the section on the Mir payment system website was closed, where the geography of accepting cards was previously reported.
Recall that in Turkey, two out of five banks that accept Russian Mir payment cards have suspended work with them. The institutions took this step after the US and Britain announced they were cracking down on anyone helping Russia evade sanctions.
