The International Monetary Fund remains a stable partner of Ukraine, assured Kristalina Georgieva.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal spoke with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in New York. They agreed to start the fund’s mission in October, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported on Tuesday, September 20.

The head of the government told Georgieva about measures to stabilize the economic situation within Ukraine, shifting the economy to a “military footing” and timely submission of the state budget for 2023 to the parliament.

“I am grateful to the IMF and to you personally for quickly responding to the challenges that have arisen before Ukraine in connection with Russia’s armed aggression and providing assistance in the amount of $1.4 billion. We look forward to the continuation of our active and close cooperation, because the IMF’s support is the basis for further financial development of our country,” he said.

Shmygal and Georgieva discussed the start of a new special program. The parties agreed that the IMF mission will start working on this issue in October.

Kristalina Georgieva also assured that the International Monetary Fund remains a stable partner of Ukraine.

Recall, last week it became known that the IMF planned to develop a new long-term lending program for Ukraine. To this end, the mission of the fund will have consultations with the Ukrainian economic group.

It was also reported that a new head of the IMF mission in Ukraine was appointed.
