A new type of hemp will provide an opportunity to develop various industries, including defense.
Scientists from the Institute of Agriculture of the North-East of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine have developed a new type of hemp seeding “Sofia”, which can be used to make bulletproof vests for the military. This is stated on the academy’s website.
Experts noted that the new type is universal in terms of using both fibers and seeds.
In particular, technical hemp is the basis for the production of gunpowder, which has no analogues in the world, as well as a high-quality raw material for ropes and parachutes. At the same time, hemp fiber slabs can withstand round-piercing armor.
In addition, scientists emphasized that hemp fabric for sewing military clothing has proven itself well in the absence of any hygiene products.
