The Russian invaders are unlikely to achieve success around Bakhmut or Donetsk to disrupt the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian units continue to conduct pointless offensive battles around Donetsk and Bakhmut, instead of focusing on defense against UAF counteroffensives, analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War report (ISW).
Thus, the Russian army continues to attack Bakhmut and several villages near Donetsk. But such tactics only create an emotional picture for the residents of the “DPR” who support Russia’s military actions.
For attacks around Donetsk, the Russian command is sending units from very limited reserves, instead of focusing on the defense along the Oskol River in the eastern part of the Kharkiv region.
Analysts doubt that the Russian invaders will be able to achieve success around Bakhmut or Donetsk to disrupt the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The invaders continued to occupy positions in the Donetsk region almost automatically. This creates the impression that the Russian army is cut off from the general realities of military operations.
Recall that earlier the Institute for the Study of War said that the Russian Federation began to recognize a military defeat, because Kremlin officials and propagandists are actively discussing the reasons for the defeat of the Russian Federation in the Kharkiv region.
