The Russian military does not allow representatives of the organization into the city. The situation in the village is catastrophic.
In the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region, more than 100 thousand civilians are suffering from hunger, lack of water and lack of heating. This was announced on Saturday, April 16, by the head of the UN World Food Program (WFP), David Beasley, the author of the Voice of America.
Beasley said the UN was trying to get food into war -torn areas in Ukraine, but “there was a lot of complexity” as the crisis progressed rapidly.
He noted that Russian troops controlling access to Mariupol did not allow WFP representatives to enter the city.
“It’s a catastrophic situation: people are starving,” Beasley said.
The WFP leader also predicted that the global food shortage that arose because of the war unleashed by Russia could cause “mass migration beyond the periods of World War II.”
As reported, the Russian occupiers are turning Mariupol into a “labor camp”. City residents can only get food if they do an examination of the rubble.
