Law enforcement of Ukraine and special services will look for partners in the city. All these activities will take about 10 days.
The mayor of Izyum Valeriy Marchenko spoke in an interview with the BBC about what is happening now in the city liberated by the Ukrainian army, and when the residents will be able to return there. According to him, today the Ukrainian army is in Izyum, the state flag is raised.
“Calm in the city, the military is cleaning, bypassing the territory of the city, looking for enemy soldiers who are hiding in private houses. When they find them, they knock them down,” he said.
After these events, city screening will be conducted.
“They will look for collaborators. About 10 more days. After that, the residents who left will be able to return to the city,” the mayor said.
About two-thirds of the population left the city, he said. In most places today there is no electricity, gas and water. No connection either.
In addition, the heating problem in the city is so great, almost all the boiler houses have been bombed, the mayor said.
