Ukrainian citizens who fled the war are more likely to request temporary protection in Europe, notes the European Bureau of Statistics.
The number of Ukrainians granted temporary protection in the EU dropped significantly in July. This is confirmed by the data announced by Eurostat – the European Bureau of Statistics, according to Schengenvisainfo.com.
Fewer people are applying for temporary protection in the EU, according to the agency. Above all, the indicators fell in Italy – in July, those who requested such a status were 12,170 people less than the previous month. It was followed by Spain – 4,190, Denmark – 3,330, Romania – 2965, Hungary – 2855 and Poland – 2835.
In some countries, Ukrainians were more often granted the status of temporary protection: Sweden – 405, Estonia – 160, Slovenia – 30.
Since February 24, Poland has granted temporary protection to Ukrainians in the most cases of any EU country. A total of 1.3 million refugees received these permits. It is followed by Germany – 967,546 Ukrainian refugees, Italy – 142,330, Spain – 131,705, Bulgaria – 125,275.
Most of those granted temporary protection are women, including girls. Most of them are registered in Poland – 37,590. Poland is followed by the following countries: Italy – 7,905 people, Romania – 4060, Bulgaria – 3800, Spain – 3540.
More than half of the requests for temporary protection status come from children under 18 years of age. Such requests are most satisfied in Italy and Malta.
