The growth of sunflower exports is due to the suspension of sunflower oil exports and a significant reduction in domestic processing.
According to the USDA, Ukraine became the world’s leading sunflower exporter in MY 2021/22 and is likely to hold this position for at least one more season.
According to the agency’s estimates, subject to the continued operation of the grain corridor and the stable operation of the processing sector, sunflower shipments to foreign markets in the new 2022/23 MY may decrease to 1.1-1.2 million tons ( -29% compared to 2021/22. MR ), but this could be the second largest volume of exports from Ukraine ever and one of the largest among the countries supplying the world market.
“At the same time, if exports through deep-sea ports are suspended again and the volume of sunflower oil shipments from the country decreases again, oilseed exports in the 2022/23 season may reached 2.5-3 million tons,” the message said. .
The demand for Ukrainian sunflower remains at a high level.
As reported, it is planned to build a pipeline from Ukraine to Poland for the supply of vegetable oil with a capacity of 2 million tons per year.
