The “battle for the Donbass” has not yet begun, and there are several reasons for it, said Pavel Kirilenko.
Since the beginning of Russia’s extensive war against Ukraine, 238 civilians have died in the Donetsk region. But these numbers do not include the casualties in the besieged Mariupol. This was stated by the head of the Donetsk OVA Pavel Kirilenko in an interview for RBC-Ukraine, published on Friday, April 15.
“On the 50th day of the fight, this number reached 238 dead and 772 injured. This is officially confirmed data. Without Mariupol,” he said.
Kirilenko also noted that the “battle for the Donbass” has not yet begun. According to him, the occupiers were forced to rest and there were several reasons for this.
“They are gathering forces. We see that they are regrouped and ready for simultaneous massive attacks using all their units tied in this direction. There are many of them there,” he said and added that the weather is not conducive to the offensive.
In addition, there is a certain inconsistency in actions and constant panic among the occupiers.
“They talk to each other and understand how their“ blitzkrieg ”ended with plans to capture the capital in a few days, and what their losses really are – they are very, very important, even for in a large army like the Russian Federation, ”Kirilenko said.
Earlier, the head of the Donetsk region said that up to 22 thousand people had been killed in Mariupol during the fighting. At the same time, 120 thousand people still remain in the city.
