Metinvest Group will allocate 900 tons of steel for the manufacture of approximately 80,000 bulletproof vests for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and terrorist defense. The company has already purchased another 10,000 body armor, according to the company’s press service Rinat Akhmetov and Vadim Novinsky.
The company has already transferred 250 tons of steel to businesses certified for making body armor. After manufacturing, bulletproof vests will be provided to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the territorial defense.
Recently, Metinvest has specialized in the manufacture of special steel, in which 8 mm thick plates are made at the level of class 4 in accordance with the requirements of DSTU 8782. Capacity – 20 tons per week. At the same time, the total volume of imported steel under current contracts will be more than 600 tons.
“We were faced with a challenge, because steel for body armor was special, and it was impossible to just start doing it in the company’s businesses. There were also difficulties in purchasing materials and finished body armor abroad. But through joint efforts we have been able to overcome all obstacles, ”said Yuri Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest.
In addition to steel for armor plates, Metinvest buys ready -made bulletproof vests, helmets and medical supplies from abroad. 10 million euros have been allocated for this. It has purchased 10,000 body armor, more than 8,000 helmets, approximately 25,000 medical tourniquets, turnstiles and first aid kits, as well as 1,100 thermal imagers.
650 sets of body armor and helmets have already been donated to the defenders of the Kyiv and Zaporozhye regions.
