Prime Minister of Estonia: The world must keep the Russian Federation isolated

In Estonia, they believe that the EU should quickly move on the issue of the next, stronger package of sanctions, and the flow of tourists from Russia should be significantly reduced.

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas at the Hayek Foundation international award ceremony in Berlin urged to keep Russia isolated until the complete de-occupation of Ukrainian territories, reports ERR.

“From the beginning of the war, I urged to limit Russia’s income from the sale of energy resources, because at its expense, the Kremlin supports its military industry,” said Kallas.

In Berlin, Kallas met with his Latvian and Lithuanian colleagues Krisjanis Karins and Ingrida Simonyte.

Participants in the meeting noted that Putin expects the West to be the first to lose patience and be ready to make concessions. “We will not allow this to happen. Until Ukraine pushes Russia out of its territory, the free world must continue to isolate Russia and tighten sanctions,” Kallas said.

“The G7 decision to impose a price cap on Russian oil is a very important step, it will reduce Russia’s ability to use energy weapons against us and increase the impact of EU sanctions. If more countries join the price cap agreement, the more effective it will be,” added Kallas.

He believes that the EU should quickly move on the issue of the next, stronger package of sanctions, and the flow of tourists from Russia should be significantly reduced.

“We continue to work together on a pan-European solution to this issue and await relevant recommendations from the European Commission,” Kallas said.

Recall that the European Union came to an agreement to suspend the simplified procedure for issuing visas to citizens of Russia, although it was proposed to introduce a complete ban on issuing visas.
