Since the start of a massive Russian invasion, more than 4 million Ukrainians have received temporary protection in the EU.
As of August 30, 506,736 Ukrainian children were integrated into the school systems of EU countries. The European Commission announced this yesterday.
“Due to Russia’s barbaric invasion of Ukraine, this year is notable for the fact that hundreds of thousands of children have been forced to flee the country. To date, more than 500,000 Ukrainian children have been included in the systems of schools of EU countries,” the message said.
Overall, more than 8.6 million Ukrainians have crossed the EU border from Ukraine and Moldova since the start of the full-scale invasion, of which 5.8 million have returned home.
In addition, 4.1 million citizens of Ukraine in the EU received temporary protection, and 25.2 thousand received asylum.
Recall that today there are about 641,000 students outside Ukraine, and about 200,000 more school-age children in the territories temporarily occupied by Russia.
