German anti-militarists opposed the production of weapons, as well as their export to other countries.
The rally of the so-called Anti-Militarist Alliance took place near the plant of German military equipment and weapons manufacturer Rheinmetall AG in Kassel. Its members protest against the production and supply of weapons, particularly to Ukraine. Rheinmetall Entwaffnen reported this to it Twitter account.
The protest began late Thursday, September 1. Law enforcement officials said the mood of the crowd was “aggressive.”
“We will prosecute criminal offenses and take consistent action against violence,” the police said.
Demonstrators with banners with anti-militarist slogans pushed the police against the barricade and threw various objects at them.
Because of this, pepper gas and batons were used against the demonstrators. Police also deployed a police helicopter.
As of Friday morning, September 2, police reported that no one was injured in the incident.
At 07:40 am local time, police reported that “there is a calm situation.”
“We cooperate with a large number of emergency services and provide access to the company’s employees to the company’s premises,” insisted German law enforcement officials.
At 10:00 a.m., police reported that the rally tape had been damaged. However, they added that “disruptions to public transport are still expected.”

It should be noted that the latest German IRIS-T air defense system will be in Ukraine in the coming weeks, and not in October, as previously planned.
