So, in August, 709.5 thousand tons of gasoline, diesel fuel and liquefied gas were imported, while in March – only 58.8 thousand tons.
“If in March we imported an average of 827 tons of gasoline and 1.4 thousand tons of diesel fuel per day, then in August – 4.2 thousand and 16.9 thousand tons, respectively,” said the First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko.
“We see the gradual accumulation of stocks of oil products in the market due to the continuous growth of imports. So now there is no excess demand for fuel, there are no queues at gas stations, and the prices does not show a tendency to rapid growth,” the minister added.
The Ministry of Economy predicts that in September-December, Ukraine needs 500-550 thousand tons of fuel per month. “To fully meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as emergency and public services, farmers, public transport,” explained Sviridenko.
He noted the reorientation of fuel imports after the Russian invasion.
“Today, we receive 95% of imported gasoline and 72% of diesel fuel from EU countries. The leaders in supplies are Romania, Lithuania, Slovakia, Greece, Bulgaria and Poland,” said Sviridenko.
Meanwhile, the authorities plan to restore the excise tax on gasoline.
