Russia has received a shipment of Mohajer-6 and Shahed series drones from Iran, a senior US administration official said.
Russia has experienced “numerous setbacks” in the operation and launch of Iranian-made drones bought for the war against Ukraine. Reuters reported this on Tuesday, August 30.
A senior US administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Russia had received a batch of Mohajer-6 and Shahed series UAVs from Iran.
“We estimate that Russia intends to use these Iranian UAVs, which can conduct air-to-surface attacks, electronic warfare and battlefield targeting in Ukraine,” the official said.
Earlier, analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) concluded that Iran may send the first batch of drones to Russia, relying on the receipt of Russian Su-35 military aircraft.
Before this, it was reported that Iran signed an agreement with the Russian Federation on the export of aircraft parts and equipment.
And Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the Office of the President, said that Iran has handed over its drones to Russia, and that Russian troops are already using them in Ukraine.
