The administration of US President Joe Biden has significantly expanded the intelligence data being passed on to Ukraine.
The administration of US President Joe Biden will share intelligence data with Ukraine that will help Kiev reach targets in the occupied Crimea and in the uncontrolled territories of Donbass. On Wednesday, April 13, the Wall Street Journal wrote.
The publication clarified that intelligence sharing is part of a change in U.S. support that also includes a new security assistance package.
It noted that “the decision to share more intelligence and provide new weapons marks a change in the Biden administration’s approach to combat.”
Moscow’s military strategy has changed recently, with Russian troops retreating from the Ukrainian capital and other cities in the north to focus on an expected offensive in the Donbass.
Such actions by Moscow forced the Biden administration to change its strategy in the fight. Last week, the United States stepped up intelligence sharing with Ukraine to help the military discover the occupiers ’plans and respond with artillery, drones and other weapons.
Earlier, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin, speaking before the Senate Arms Committee, indicated changes to the intelligence -sharing system. He noted that the US is preparing “updated instructions.”
It was noted that the United States, however, will continue to refrain from providing intelligence that would allow Ukrainians to attack Russian targets.
“As the conflict progresses, we continue to adapt so that operators can easily share detailed and timely intelligence with Ukrainians,” U.S. intelligence officials said.
It will be recalled that British intelligence believed that the appointment of Russian Army General Alexander Dvornikov as commander of the war in Ukraine was an attempt to centralize command and control.
