Kosovo authorities have refused to postpone the entry into force of the regional ban on vehicles with Serbian license plates. The parties found a solution to the dispute.
Serbia and Kosovo reach an agreement on vehicle license plates and entry-exit documents. This was announced on Saturday, August 27, by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell in Twitter.
“As part of the EU-facilitated dialogue, Serbia agreed to remove travel documents for Kosovo ID holders and Kosovo agreed not to introduce them for Serbian ID holders . Kosovo Serbs, like all other citizens, will be able to travel freely between Kosovo and Serbia using their identity cards. The EU has only received assurances from Prime Minister Kurti in this regard, ” he wrote.
“This is a European decision. We congratulate both leaders on this decision,” Borrell added.
Earlier, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said he did not intend to further delay the entry into force of the regional ban on vehicles with Serbian license plates.
Recall that the situation in Kosovo became more complicated on July 31 against the background of the authorities’ decision to ban the entry of cars with Serbian number plates and relevant Serbian documents from August 1.
After the US reaction, Kosovo decided to postpone the procedure for imposing a ban on Serbian documents until September 1. In Pristina, they stressed that they would make a concession as soon as the Serbs protesting against the innovations were dismantled the barricades.
