Ukrainian sailors can still travel abroad, but only with the agreement of the military registration and enlistment office. The corresponding decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers, which was announced on Saturday, August 27, by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal.
“Seafarers can cross the border only with the permission of the territorial manning center,” he wrote.
Shmyhal noted that male crew members of sea and river vessels and continue to work on ships will be allowed to travel abroad. As well as students (cadets) of educational institutions who must undergo practical training on board the ship.
As Shmyhal noted, Ukraine is one of the world leaders in terms of the number of highly qualified seafarers. More than 100 thousand Ukrainians work in shipping merchant in the world.
Such a decision, according to the prime minister, will provide jobs for thousands of sailors and increase revenues in the budget.
Earlier it was reported that in the Odessa region, the sailors were brought across the border “retroactively.”
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed businessmen to travel abroad on business trips subject to certain conditions.
