Steinmeier’s visit to Kyiv has just been postponed and it could take place in the coming weeks, Wladimir Klitschko hopes.
World-famous boxer Wladimir Klitschko hopes that German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit Ukraine in the coming days. He wrote this on Facebook on Wednesday, April 13th.
“It is true that the Federal President has made many mistakes in Russian policy in the past that have hurt Ukraine. The Federal President has apologized for this and acknowledged his mistakes. I believe that Ukraine must continue to cooperate and continue in building bridges in Germany. My recent visit to Berlin, where I spoke with all the influential German politicians, showed that personal meetings are always useful, “Klitschko wrote.
He noted that Germany is a key partner in providing financial, humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, assistance to refugees and providing arms to Ukraine.
“Today it is very important that Ukraine, together with Germany and the whole European Union, show a united front in the fight against Russia’s aggression on Ukraine. And I hope that the visit of the Federal President to Kyiv is simply postponed and can take place in in the coming weeks, ”Klitschko said.
Earlier, the German President said the Ukrainian leadership had denied his visit. It was later learned that instead of Steinmeier, the German chancellor had been invited to Kyiv, but he had not yet gone to Ukraine.
