German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Ukrainian soldiers trained on the Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft gun and pledged additional military support. Bild reported this on Thursday, August 25.
In particular, Scholz visited the Putlos military training ground in Schleswig-Holstein, where the Ukrainian military mastered the Gepard anti-aircraft guns.
“Germany wants to help give soldiers the best support they need,” Scholz said.
The Chancellor also inspected one of the Gepards and even climbed it. Scholz said that he was amazed at the capabilities of the anti-aircraft installation and saw how effective it was in organizing the defense against air attacks.
Scholz reaffirmed that Germany will continue to supply Ukraine with heavy weapons systems – self-propelled guns, MLRS and IRIS-T air defense systems.
