The Swedish Foreign Minister said the security situation in Europe had dramatically changed after Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine and urged governments to reconsider their policy of military neutrality.
Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde believes that Russia has no right to decide for Sweden and Finland whether to join NATO, and called the threats in this matter completely unacceptable. This was reported by the publication Klix.
“It is completely unacceptable for Russia to threaten Sweden or Finland in any way, because its citizens themselves must determine their security policy,” Linde said during an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Swedish foreign minister said the security situation in Europe had dramatically changed since Russia’s full invasion of Ukraine. The destruction and human suffering that has terrified the world has prompted the governments of the two countries to reconsider their policy of military neutrality and consider joining NATO.
“Russia’s attack on Ukraine is unjustified and illegal and cannot be justified by anything, and that is why Sweden, along with the EU, supports Ukraine,” Linde said, calling around the world to unite in opposing the Russian aggression.
Recall that the Kremlin opposes the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO.
