Kyiv sent a signal to Berlin that the Ukrainian president did not consider the arrival of his German colleague desirable.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier confirmed that the Ukrainian side called his possible visit to Kyiv undesirable. On Tuesday, April 12, European Truth reported in relation to Steinmeier’s statement.

“Together with the presidents of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, we want to go to Kyiv to send a strong signal of European unity to Ukraine. I am ready. But, obviously, and we must admit that it is not like Kyiv,” said the German president.

Earlier today, the German publication Bild reported that Steinmeier wanted to visit Kyiv, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refused to meet.

According to the publication, so far, President Volodymyr Zelensky has refused to meet with him in Kyiv because of the German politician’s close ties with Russia in the past.
