Yaroslav Maguchy – European champion in high jump. The Ukrainian athlete, thanks to fewer attempts, won at a height of 1.95 m in Munich. Here, on the evening of August 21, the European Athletics Championships ended.
The second in the high-altitude sector with the same result was Montenegrin Maria Vučić, the third was Angelina Topić from Serbia (1.93 m).
Other Ukrainians – Irina Gerashchenko and Yulia Levchenko – won 5th and 9th places respectively.
The Maguchy medal is Ukraine’s first “gold” in history at the European Championships in the women’s high jump.
This is the fifth award of Ukrainian athletes at the European Championships in Munich. Earlier, Andrei Protsenko from Nikolaev won a bronze medal in the high jump. Victoria Tkachuk was second in the 400m hurdles final and Anna Ryzhikova was third. Marina Bekh-Romanchuk became the champion in the triple jump.
