Despite the widespread war, the State Flag Day of Ukraine and the Independence Day of Ukraine will be celebrated at the state level.
The Government of Ukraine approved an action plan to celebrate the 31st anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. On Friday, August 19, the website of the Ministry of Culture reported.
It is reported that on August 23, official solemn ceremonies of raising the State Flag of Ukraine will be held in Kyiv and other settlements, foreign diplomatic institutions, military units.
The next day, August 24, the Motherland monument in Kyiv and other iconic places will be lit up in blue and yellow, and an exhibition of destroyed Russian military equipment will be held in Khreshchatyk.
It was also reported that priests of all churches will pray for Ukraine at St. Sophia Cathedral. In addition, some other actions and flash mobs “aiming to unite and support Ukrainians” will also take place.
At official events, a minute of silence will be observed to honor all those who died in the war in Russia.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry said that the Russian invaders were not preparing to attack Kyiv on Ukraine’s Independence Day. But Ukrainians still need to be prepared for possible “provocations” of the invaders – for example, air strikes.
