Decarbonization plans by several oil and gas giants are “inconsistent” with the goals of the Paris Agreement to prevent devastating global warming, according to a study released Tuesday.
published in a magazine Connection with natureThis study by an international panel of experts analyzes six emission scenarios proposed by three European energy giants, Equinor, BP and Shell, and prepared by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
They then compared them to the scenarios described in the United Nations Climate Experts Panel (GIEC) report on limiting temperatures to 1.5°C. climate warming middle planet.
“Most of the scenarios we analyzed are incompatible with Paris AgreementThey will fail to limit warming to much less than 2°C and will far exceed the 1.5°C limit,” said Robert Brecha of Climate Analytics think tank, co-author of the study.
Influence
The analysis concludes that the Shell scenario, called Sky, will lead to global warming 1.81°C between now and 2069.
A Shell spokesman told AFP that Sky’s scenario is just one possibility, adding that his teams are making “estimates based on plausible assumptions and quantitative estimates that are not intended to predict likely future events or outcomes.”
The Equinor Rebalance scenario will result in global warming According to the study, by 2060 it will exceed pre-industrial levels by 1.73 °C.
BP Rapid scenario will lead to a surge global warming 1.73°C by 2058, while his Net Zero scenario would result in a maximum of +1.65°C average warming, according to the analysis.
Equinor declined to respond and BP did not respond to a request for comment.
According to the authors of the study, only the IEA “Net Zero 2050” scenario is fully consistent with Paris Agreement.
This 2015 agreement prompted countries to commit to limit climate warming planets to “well below” +2°C compared to pre-industrial times, or +1.5°C if possible.

“Espacio Vital”: Dr. Alvaro Bellido, a gastroenterologist at the Cayetano Heredia Hospital, explained that an irritable colon is a disruption in the interaction between the colon and the brain that tends to become chronic. It affects a person for approximately six months, and when there is this long-term disorder, it is called irritable bowel syndrome. He said some of the symptoms are abdominal pain, bloating, constipation or diarrhea associated with the pain. It occurs at any age, but is more common in young women. He added that irritable bowels are one of the reasons people miss work or school more. Many people go into emergency situations because of pain.
