Additional gas costs in Germany from October 1 will amount to 2.419 cents per kilowatt-hour.
Bild wrote that from October 1, households and industry must pay a gas surcharge of 2.419 cents per kWh.
Gas network operator Trading Hub Europe told the publication that the fee is in excess of the usual rate, which has also risen sharply.
The German government has announced a third aid package for citizens, which, among other things, provides assistance with housing benefits and income tax.
According to Check24, for an average household of four (consumption: 20,000 kWh), this will result in an additional fee of about 484 euros per year, excluding VAT.
Until the end of March 2024, suppliers will be able to pass on to consumers most of the costs they incur due to the need to replace supplies from Russia, which they lack, with more expensive gas.
Germany is currently pumping gas into storage facilities ahead of schedule. They are filled by more than 75%, said the head of the Federal Network Agency Klaus Müller. Although the German government planned to reach this figure only by September 1.
The next targets are 85% by October 1st and 95% by November 1st.
Müller believes that Germany must cut its gas consumption by 20% to get through the winter season.
